On the Re-election of His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as President of the Federative Republic of Brazil
On behalf of the Kingdom of Navassa, and with the Crown’s gracious leave, Her Majesty’s Chancellery extends its warmest felicitations to His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva upon his re-election as President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
The people of Brazil have spoken in a hard-fought runoff and entrusted him with a fourth term. The Kingdom honors the voters of Brazil, whose participation is the truest foundation of any government.
Navassa holds that sovereignty is a responsibility toward people, and so we take particular heart in the Brazilian people’s long struggle for dignity, opportunity, and cultural vitality. As a Kingdom rooted in Haitian heritage and Caribbean maritime tradition, we share with Brazil the inheritance of the Atlantic world and its great arts and letters. We wish His Excellency wisdom and good health in the service ahead, and we hope that all of Brazil’s communities, especially those long overlooked, may flourish under his stewardship.
The Kingdom offers its friendship to the Brazilian people, in the spirit of mutual respect and cultural exchange.
